Michelle Mahler

Michelle R. Mahler was hired in 2012 as the Payroll Administrator for the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office. As the Payroll Administrator, she oversees the Payroll/Personnel Bureau, which is responsible primarily for making sure all of the employees of the Sheriff’s Office are paid accurately and in a timely fashion. Each year about 49 regular and special payrolls are processed and paid to over 1,200 employees. In addition, the Payroll/Personnel Bureau's responsibilities include but are not limited to validating time and accruals, position control, processing new employees and retirements in the payroll system, monitoring leaves and benefit eligibility and reporting wages to the New York State Retirement System.

Prior to working at the Sheriff’s Office, Michelle worked at Suffolk County Community College for over 12 years in the Human Resource Department. She was responsible for the intake and processing of all new employees each semester and all retirements, position control, tracking of leaves and benefit eligibility, as well as all the monthly retirement reporting for the New York State Teacher’s retirement system. Michelle was also the Human Resource lead in the implementation of the college’s HR/Payroll Module in their current Enterprise Resource Software.

Michelle received a Bachelor of Arts in Human Relations with a Certification in Human Resources from St. Joseph’s College.
